About Kamieskroon

Kamieskroon is on the N7 route, in the heart of Namaqualand and at the foot of the Kamiesberg mountain range. It is surrounded by 3 prominent peaks: Kardou, Sneeukop and Boesmankop. We are 20 km from Namaqua National Park (formerly known as Skilpad Wild Flower Reserve). Access to the different flower areas is easy from Kamieskroon Hotel. The ruins of the old church at Bowesdorp (where the Kamieskroon community originally started) and the historical village, Leliefontein (the oldest Methodist Mission station in South Africa) are within easy reach. During the flower season, we offer information and maps on the best flower routes.

Kamieskroon Hotel has 24 comfortable en suite rooms (single, twin and family) at affordable prices. We have a swimming pool for the hot summers and a log fire in the lounge for the cold winters. Home-cooked 4 course dinners, light meals and full English breakfasts are served. There is a convenience store with hand-made articles, books, postcards and souvenirs and a small museum on the premises.

The campsite is an open safe area where guests are free to camp wherever they feel and it has clean ablution facilities, electricity points and braai areas.

We offer special rates for families during school holidays. During the flower season and on special request we have audio-visual shows on Namaqualand flowers, Richtersveld National Park and the West Coast.

During March/April, May and August/September Kamieskroon Hotel conduct 7 - 8 day photography workshops. Participants come from all over the world. The March/April workshops include 4 nights camping at the Atlantic coast where you have the opportunity to photograph sand dunes, ship wrecks, seascapes, huge breakers and rock formations. The May workshops include 4 nights camping in the Richtersveld National Park with its incredible landscapes, rock formations and unique plant life. The workshops in August and September concentrate on the floral wealth of the area and interesting rock formations.
